When and why did you start your business?
I started my business 7 years ago.
I really wanted to empower people to take charge of their own health and wellness.
What's your story?
I have been interested in ‘nature’ my whole life. When I was a child you couldn’t keep me inside- I would always be collecting frogs, having an adventure in the bamboo Forest, or I’d be making mud pies. I rescued all the animals and sat under the cedar tree to contemplate the world around me. I would sit for hours in front of the honeysuckles tasting the single drop that would emerge. I created a world within this world that was always an adventure. I still live there as often as I can.
I am a mother of 4, and what inspired me to really begin a journey in herbal medicine was them. When my daughter was about 18 months she became very ill. We discovered she had an ear infection. So, I was a novice in my understanding of herbal medicine, and I didn’t know if it was an inner or an outer ear infection. I soon found out quickly, when both of her eardrums ruptured, that it was an inner ear. I decided to do what any parent does - I panicked! Just for a moment.
Then, I decided to call my ND (naturopathic doctor), she asked if I was still nursing (and I was) and she said so then I can help you. She provided me with a bunch of herbs and supplements (the herbs tasted THE WORST) and sent me on my way. Within 2 days my daughter’s ears stopped leaking and within a week she was 100% back to normal.
I was sold, no antibiotics, no pain medication, no fear of hearing loss. It was herbs and supplements. I’m in. I wanted to do that too!!
It took awhile to find MY path, but in the end it was worth it. I love understanding how the body works, how the herbs work, where they grow, what they look like. It’s a journey that one can never know everything and yet it works. It is also inspiring to know these things can be growing right in our own backyard. I have been doing this for over 10 years now and I just absolutely love it everyday.
