Interview with: Mother (Dale) Daughter (Tess) due behind Gluten Free Groove
When and why did you start your business?
We started our business a few months ago, in June 2022. I (Tess, the daughter) was diagnosed with celiac disease 6 years ago. It was really hard for me to find food that tasted good. My mom, an amazing baker and cook, began baking for me. This year we decided to start selling our baked goods as we still noticed that the GF community struggling to find things that were delicious! Most GF things can be very dry.
What's your story?
We started reaching out to local businesses- they loved our stuff and eventually we began selling cakes to North Fork Roasting Company and now sell at several other places as well. We also do custom bakes for weddings and events.
We’re so excited to work together as a mother-daughter team. So far it’s been a really fun journey. We hope to continue to expand and hopefully have our own bakery space on the North Fork one day!
What do you offer?
We offer coffee cake, lemon poppyseed cake (our customer faves) along with sponge cakes, carrot cake, cookies, brownies, and pies. We also offer dairy, nut and soy-free options. Also vegan options!
We do home deliveries on the North Fork (Orient to Riverhead). We will travel further for special events or we can arrange a pick-up location.
What else do you want people to know?
We’re really happy to serve the north fork community!
