Interview with:
Dr. Michelle Iona, DACM, L.Ac of HEALING POINTS ACUPUNCTURE & WELLNESS CENTER
When and why did you start your business?
In January 2001, I established my business following a transformational experience with acupuncture and nutrition that significantly improved my health. Despite feeling enhanced physically, mentally, and emotionally after each session, I was left with numerous questions regarding acupuncture. Driven by an insatiable thirst for knowledge, I began my education in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and dietary therapy. Over two decades have elapsed since I started my business, and I still indulge my inquisitiveness by attending numerous seminars every year.
What's your story?
I became passionate about acupuncture after suffering for over 17 years from misdiagnosed endometriosis. As an avid runner, healthy eater, and outdoor enthusiast I felt like I was doing everything right but still felt so awful. A life-changing meeting with an accomplished acupuncturist finally brought me pain relief that I could not attain through Western medicine and surgery. By diving deep into nutrition, lifestyle, sleep patterns, relationships, and more, I was able to discover the root cause of my symptoms. Through first-hand experience, I learned how acupuncture, sound nutrition, and lifestyle habits could reverse disease and promote true healing. Now, I am honored to offer the same to others.
My passion is being a detective of sorts, uncovering why people are chronically ill and using diet, supplements, and lifestyle adjustments to shift them back towards health, vitality, and joy.
As an empathetic, intuitive, and natural healer, I strives to inspire each of my patients toward a healthy, vibrant life. I believe that our bodies have an innate ability to heal if properly supported.
I specialize in the treatment of difficult, chronic diseases, pain management, and women’s health and fertility. Using the various modalities encompassed in Chinese medicine, nutrition, and functional medicine, my goal is to help you uncover the root cause of your imbalance.
