When and why did you start your business?
In November 2020, I began The Lettuce Lady in order to provide family and friends with delicious, healthy meals delivered to their doors.
What's your story?
I’ve always enjoyed cooking and I’m a huge lover of salad so, in a way, I’ve always been “The Lettuce Lady”. In 2019, after living in California for about 8 years, I returned to Shelter Island, where I was born and raised. At that time the pandemic had just begun and I realized that one way I could help family and friends on the front lines was to deliver healthy, ready-to-eat meals. Eventually, I was getting calls from people I didn’t even know requesting my deliveries, specifically the salads. A lightbulb went off. We don’t have any delivery on Shelter Island, and not many healthy, ready-to-eat options in general, so I figured salad delivery could be a thing. That’s how “The Lettuce Lady” was born. Since then the business has grown in many exciting directions including partnerships with local markets, farm stands, and non-profits on the east end.
What do you offer?
Each week I feature a new menu of 3 unique salads for delivery Monday-Friday. During Fall and Winter, I also deliver soup. My salads are robust (literally jammed packed into 32-ounce containers, with everything nicely separated so they last for days). They feature locally sourced and seasonal produce and are organic whenever possible. Aside from salads and soup for delivery, I also work with a few awesome businesses on the island that carry a standing menu I’ve curated for their store (Elli’s Country Store, The Eccentric Bagel & Shelter Island Seafood). My first partnership was with the farm stand at Sylvester Manor Educational Farm, and they continue to sell my salads, soups, quiches, bread, various baked treats, and the now popular ‘Shelter Island Cookie”. As of last summer, I also offer a selection of salads and sweets at Share The Harvest Farm in East Hampton, a wonderful non-profit with a very special mission. While providing deliciousness to my hometown gives me absolute joy, I’m hoping the summer of 2023 allows me to expand the list of local markets and farms that carry my food so that many more East-enders can enjoy healthy, grab-and-go options.
Additionally, I also offer charcuterie + crudités boards on holidays and by special order. These are such fun and a creative outlet for me. They include a huge variety of vegetables, dips, spreads, drizzles, cheeses, cured meats, dried and fresh fruits, and nuts. A true cornucopia perfect for entertaining a large group.

What else do you want people to know?
I do love cooking, however, my true loves are my two beautiful little girls, Natali (6) and Valeri (3). Come summer you’ll find me at the beach, and during the colder months, I enjoy gatherings with family and friends (and yes, I always bring the salad).
