Interview with: Kayla Barthelme of Soul Creations
When and why did you start your business?
I started my business in 2021. I decided to start a small business as a challenge to put myself out there, as an alternative means of income and to fulfill a calling to connect people to the plant world.
What's your story?
I have a degree in Conservation Biology from SUNY-ESF and it is the trees and plants of the Adirondack Park that first solidified my love of plants. I soon found agriculture and herbalism and was unable to walk away from a life that included growing my own food and medicine.
As an herbalist, farmer, and garden designer, I strive to be the bridge between people and plants.
What do you offer?
Through my business I offer seasonal and handcrafted herbal products and public and private classes and workshops on gardening, wildcrafting, and herbalism. I design sustainable, permaculture-based gardens and occasionally work individually with people who wish to bring the healing powers of plants into their lives.
What else do you want people to know?
Check out my link tree or website for current offerings or join my newsletter for weekly writings, offerings, and information on where you can find me. Past events have included Introduction to Plant Medicine and The Art + Science of Drinking Herbal Tea.
