When and why did you start your business?

I started my business in 1998 in the small town of Enumclaw at the foothills of Mt. Rainier in Washington and moved to the North Fork in 2013.

I always knew I wanted to do some sort of healing with my hands since the age of 14. I didn't know about massage at that time - in 1977. After high school I told my parents I wanted to be a massage therapist. They Were very disappointed and said I was too smart to do massage :) They eventually came around but it took a lot of determination to finally complete a program.

Bowenwork is my passion. It always surprises me. In school we were taught to "always trust the work", as sometimes it takes several sessions for the benefits to be revealed. If you stop by Ty Llywd Farm in Riverhead to buy raw milk, farmer David Wines would be happy to tell you how Bowenwork kept him from needing knee surgery and his knee is still fine 10 yrs later.

What's your story?

Massage therapy has been my sole profession since 1998 when I graduated from Seattle Massage School.  In addition, I have certification as a sports massage specialist (242 hr. program) and as a Bowenwork practitioner (176 hr program). I have 64 hrs of training in the Chikly method of Lymph Drainage therapy, I incorporate an eclectic mix of styles into my massage sessions, including Swedish, deep tissue and other techniques learned over the years. I won’t talk during your session so that you can fully relax. I use organic, high quality oils, lotions, and essential oils. Aromatherapy is included in the price of massage, foot reflexology and lymph drainage therapy.

What do you offer?

Transformative Bodywork offers a variety of different massage therapy techniques including; Swedish massage, sports massage, Bowenwork, Lymph Drainage, Aromatherapy, foot reflexology, sound healing, dry brush training,  and more.

Bowenwork is a very gentle modality that resets dysfunctional tension patterns in the body. No oil or lotion is used and often can be done over light clothing. The gentleness of the moves belies its potential to effect profound, long-lasting change. It has been referred to as the homeopathy of bodywork, meaning the smallest of interventions results in a maximum response, following the "less is more" philosophy.  It balances the immune and nervous systems, whether they are overactive or underactive. Think of all the conditions that fall into those categories. Bowenwork consists of precise "moves" which are done over muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerve bundles. After a certain number of moves I leave the room for at least 2 minutes to allow the brain to process and respond to this new input.

Lymph Drainage Therapy is not massage, is extremely gentle and helps optimize the functioning of the lymphatic system. The pressure used is the weight of a nickel.  A massage temporarily collapses the superficial lymphatic pathways. Symptoms of a stagnant, sluggish lymphatic system are inflammatory processes, unusual fatigue, edema, high susceptibility to viral and bacterial infection, lack of vitality, and the inability to lose weight. Cells cannot function efficiently when bathed in a toxic sludge.

I can teach you the proper sequence and technique of dry skin brushing so that you can add that to your self-care regime. There is so much erroneous info on the internet.

What else do you want people to know?

Transformative Body work is a mobile massage business so I come to you for sessions.
